When I'm asked how I came into the healing arts, oftentimes I tell folks my story is like many. I graduated college with a degree in Computer Science in 1994, I got a decent job when I got out and I began my professional career. I became proficient in my field, commanded a substantial salary for my skills, worked extremely grueling hours to meet project deadlines and was awarded substantially for my efforts.
The only needs being met were my financial needs. After twelve long years, I realized I was becoming dis-enchated with the corporate life. The indoctorination, the company picnics, the political eggshells and the the conformity and sacrifices that had to be made in the name of being a "team player".
The lines between my personal and professional life were blurred. I was my job, I identified not with the amazing being that lie beneath the fleshy exterior, but I was a Senior Systems Administrator. I lost touch with my true self the spiritual being within. I traded my connection to the divine with the security of a steady paycheck. This led to severe bouts of depression, emptiness, various health issues and a problem with alchohol abuse.
I hopped from job to job. I thought if I could leave this company, the other company would be better - the grass is always greener after all... I was wrong. Each company had it's on little set of indoctrination, stresses, and mismanagement. None was better than the next.
I later realized I was only looking for happiness externally. I had not yet learned how to look within. I already had the answers. We all have the answers within. I followed my heart rather than some sort of guru. That's not to say I didn't have wonderful teachers along the way. My best teacher showed me how to remember to connect to the divine. No attunements, no ritual, no ceremony - just reconnecting to our true essence - our Oneness - our Divine Paradigm.
Lifetimes of vows, childhood programming, genetic and group conscious beliefs and wounds on a soul level prevent us from moving forward and keep us living the illusion of separation and duality.
